About the Artist
Dmitry Pribylnov, born 1968 in the USSR region of Ukraine, and graduate of one of the Soviet Union's most prestigious design institutes, began his career focused on interiors and small architectural projects. Over time, his artistic journey took an unexpected turn as his interests evolved, leading him to the world of bone carving after relocating to Siberia in 1993. There, he forged valuable connections with local museum professionals, which played a crucial role in shaping his distinctive style—a harmonious fusion of bone, wood, and bronze.
After a decade of honing his skills in a company specializing in artistic cast iron, Dmitry opened his own foundry, Siberian Bronze. A defining moment in his career came in 2004, when he completed a significant commission to replicate ancient Siberian castings. This pivotal project set the stage for his deepening focus on bronze, where he continues to blend traditional and modern materials in innovative ways.
Over the years, Dmitry's business has evolved into a family enterprise, with each member contributing their own expertise to the craft. With part of the family now based in the United States, Dmitry has expanded his operations to the U.S., bringing his unique blend of craftsmanship and art to a broader international audience.
Dmitry’s approach to materials is as thoughtful as it is versatile. He chooses each material with a purpose, whether bone, metal, or a combination of both, to best express the essence of each work. In his more recent pieces, he has increasingly delved into the concept of "biomechanics," using the interplay of bone and metal to evoke both the fragility and endurance of the animal form.
Today, Dmitry's works are celebrated across Russia and beyond, regularly featured in national exhibitions and fairs. His sculptures can be found in museums across Russia and Europe, as well as in private collections worldwide and public parks throughout Siberia. Through his art, Dmitry explores the flow of time, capturing the events of nature, history, and their reflection in material and texture. His work seeks to uncover a modern aesthetic that allows us to physically engage with time itself, traveling back 20,000 years through form and imagination
